Assoc. Prof. Dr. Harun Özkan MD
He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine on 30 June 1966. Being a military doctor, Özkan became a General Surgery Specialist in 1974 and Aesthetic – Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist in 1976. During the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, he served as the ‘Surgeon in Charge of the Landing Troops and the Chief of the Surgery Hospital’. The incredible success he showed in the recovery of the wounded in this operation was appreciated by the Turkish General Staff and Assoc. Prof. dr. Harun Özkan was awarded the ‘Outstanding Courage and Renunciation Medal – Gold Medal -‘. This medal was given to a doctor for the first time. Thus, Özkan became the only gold medal-winning combat veteran doctor in the Armed Forces.
1979 – 80 years in Tokyo – Japan Showa Univ. Faculty of Medicine He worked in the Aesthetics – Plastic Surgery department.
He became Associate Professor of the University on April 6, 1983.
In 1985, as the Health Representative of the Turkish Armed Forces, he made investigations in health institutions and hospitals in Romania.
In 1988, he was invited as a guest speaker to the Japanese National Aesthetic – Plastic Surgery Congress. He presented a paper as one of the 20 Plastic Surgeons invited from outside of Japan. During the congress, he was elected as the president of ‘International Onizuka Plastic Surgery Association’. He still works as a freelance physician in Istanbul.
He is performing Male to Female Sexual Reassignment Surgeries.
